AePS

Aadhaar Enabled Payment System lets a customer withdraw cash, check a balance or take a mini statement using only their Aadhaar number and a fingerprint. No card, no cheque and no smartphone. It is what turns a shop counter into a banking point in areas a branch does not reach.

What you get

  • Cash withdrawal, balance enquiry, mini statement and Aadhaar Pay
  • Works with any Aadhaar-linked bank account, whoever issued it
  • Certified biometric devices: fingerprint and iris
  • Customer consent captured and retained on every transaction
  • Commission credited to the operator wallet per successful transaction
  • Same-screen receipt, printable or sent by SMS

How it works

  1. 1Customer identifiesThe operator enters the Aadhaar number and selects the customer bank.
  2. 2Biometric authenticationThe customer places a finger on a certified scanner. The biometric is encrypted at the device and never stored by the operator.
  3. 3Bank authorisesThe request goes to the customer bank through NPCI. On approval, the operator hands over cash and their wallet is credited.

FAQ

About aeps

Does the customer need an account with a particular bank?

No. Any Aadhaar-seeded account at any participating bank works, which is the point of the rail. The operator does not need a relationship with the customer bank.

What if authentication fails repeatedly?

A failed biometric is not a debit. Nothing moves until the issuing bank authorises, so a failed attempt costs the customer nothing and the operator nothing.
