How it works

Can I use a scanner I already own?

Only if it is a UIDAI-registered device. An uncertified scanner will not authenticate, however good the hardware — registration is a regulatory requirement rather than a compatibility one, and it is per-device rather than per-model.

Fingerprints keep failing for some customers. What are the options?

This is common with elderly customers and manual workers, and it is the case iris scanning exists for. A counter serving those customers regularly is worth equipping with an iris reader rather than retrying a fingerprint that will not capture.
